Candida Update

Wanted to give an update to the candida situation. I have had some ups and downs. I felt amazing the first week! So much energy and great attitutde. I was happy and easy going, nothing really bothered me and I played with Lucy without getting tired. I did not eat anything off the diet.

THe second week I had some cream cheese, I love sugar free cheesecake and thought my body could handle it. I couldn't and cheese is off limits now. My dad came for a visit and we bottled some wine one day, which I had to taste and blend to get the right recipe, right? It's my job. So I fed the yeast cream cheese and wine, I'm sure it loved it after starving for a week. So candida gave me bloating and all the nasty things that go with bowel problems and a fuzzy head and less energy. But I continue with the veggies, protein and fat.

The third week, we had Lucy's birthday party and I cracked under the stress of having too many kids in the house. I ate cake and ice cream after the party. UGH...again bloating and all that goes with bowel distress also, a fuzzy head and just not so optimistic attitude. Actually, I was in a bad mood.

The forth week, I was doing really well, no cheese, no sugar and then we went to a halloween party and with a lapse in judgement had one small glass of wine. What was I thinking?!? ? I had a hangover and felt like poopoo for a whole day. I must stay on the diet to improve my health and mind! I've added psyllium husks to clean out my colon, olive leaf and garlic to kill candida in mass quantities and more probiotics to increase the good bacteria in my gut.

I have had some great feeling days since then, happy energized and motivated.

Today is the 11th day in a row without anything off the diet. I just started my period and haven't had the terrible cramping I usually have but I'm somewhat irritable and tired. I had some cravings for carbs this past week, too. I had some strawberries and some unsweetened carob chips, not many though and kept my carbs low. I'm really the most surprised at the lack of cramping. And I feel like I could even go somewhere or do something, I usually stay home and lay on the couch for a day or two during this time of the month. Or take a lot of tylenol, which I hate doing.

So far so good, I will be increasing my carbs a little bit and introduce Yeast Cleanse by Soaray which includes caprylic acid, pau d'arco and tea tree oil as a candida killer along with the garlic I'm now taking after I finish the olive leaf supplements. I will increase slowly to try and avoid die-off symptoms.

I'm still motovated to keep going knowing by Christmas I will feel so much better!
Gardner is trying this, too. He has suffered from Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, beer allergies, allergies in general, chronic athlete's foot, fuzzy head, ect. for 10 years. He has been taking garlic and eating low carb, too. He's had some die-off symptoms, flu-like feeling one morning and tiredness but he feels clearer and at times feels better than he has in a very long time. THis is a very hard regimin to follow because feeling worse before feeling better is part of the process. We are excited to feel better in a couple months and know it may be more like a year to really get the candida in check.
Cheers!
