The State Fair of Texas

The last day of the state fair was yesterday, so we decided to go at the last minute, that's how we usually plan outings, you know? After an hour drive, we arrived around 11:00 am on this chilly Sunday morning. I think summer is over and we are definately into fall weather here, I'm so glad.

On Lucy's request we went straight over to the farm animals, specifically, the pigs. We got our animal food like everyone else and set out to feed some farm animals. Most of the animals were full, so many people feeding them, we finally found a pot belly pig who was still hungry. There were piglets, goats, sheep, llamas, a young giraffe, all sorts of calves, buffalo, and even a mama and baby camel.

We saw pig races, little pigs running around an arena going after an oreo, it was funny.

We saw a very short puppet show, seriously, at the most 15 minutes long.

Of course, we rode the the world's largest Ferris Wheel, you know Texas size, I have to tell you it cost us $18 for all three of us to ride and it made 2 rounds, I think we stood in line longer than we were on the ride, oh well, it was fun. I think the city of Dallas is making a huge profit on this fair, hardly fair, just wonder how people with more than one child afford it.
Lucy had a ball on the rides. She rode a canoe around a little river, a fast and bouncy car and the carousel.

Fast Car
She's so big, going on these rides all by herself!

Hugs
Big hugs!

Round and Round
Round and round we go! "Hi, Daddy!"

Lucy's Pic
Lucy took this picture with the giant ferris wheel in the background. Whew, what a day!

At the end of the day we saw a parade with lights and music. We were very tired. Gardner thought we couldn't bring the stroller and carried Lucy the entire day, he's sleepin in today and probably has a sore back.
We had a really fun time, I was surprised how nice it was, I have never liked fairs, since I was a child, I always thought they were too crowded and dirty! I guess I've changed a little in the last 30 years. Thank goodness!.
