Lucy and I went to our unschoolers playgroup this morning and she played with Arowyn another girl just a week older than her. They had lots of fun playing with Lucy's pink puppy, thanks again Mandy, she loves that dog!
So I was able to play with the adults and I had an interesting conversation about Texas and California. Arowyns dad is from California and has spent time in Austin and is now living in San Diego and he would choose to live in Austin over SD, I was very interested. He believes Texans are generally more open and honest about who they are, what they are about and found them to be more welcoming into their lives, share more intimately, open themselves up to more personal relationships. Although we haven't found that to be entirely true in Hillsboro, I must say our neighbors in Texas have opened themselves up to us, I, on the other hand have not. I am the one who hasn't been open and honest about who I am for some fear of stepping on toes, but maybe I could open their minds. I do find many people in California to be shallow and only want to let you in just so far and have found people to be downright RUDE. I thought his comments on California being liberal in philosophy and not in reality to be interesting, like it's extremely difficult to adopt a black child into a white family in California and that's definately not the case in Texas.
Not sure where I'm going with this but I am looking forward to getting back home to Texas! I miss my cat and 3 dogs, my grapes and I miss family meals all together. I miss the quietness. I miss my mom coming for weekend visits. I miss having my own space!!!!! All 18 acres of space.

I have a ton of relatives in Houston and you're right about Texans, they are more hospitable and friendlier than the west or east coast folks. We are generally more guarded, and distrusting of people.
So it's nice to visit Texas where everyone is just downright friendly.
